Back Pac Ministry
In conjunction with Fifth Lutheran Church, Grace collects new school back packs to be given to needy children in Springfield every August.
Bibles for the World
Grace provides Bibles to people around the world through this yearly outreach ministry. Needy recipients in a specific country are identified each year.
Breakfast Break
Throughout the year, adult Sunday School classes meet during a breakfast break to hear presentations from guests who speak about their ministries. Adult Sunday School offerings have been donated to several organizations, including Ark Ministries, Young Life, Naomi’s Heart Mission and Hope Haven International among others.
Christmas Food Baskets
Grace collects, sorts and organizes Christmas food baskets for local residents in need.
Christmas Giving Tree
Grace collects and distributes Christmas presents to underprivileged children and teens in our local community.
“Heart & Hand” Charity Auction
Donated handmade and home-baked items are auctioned annually in December. The proceeds benefit a designated charity.
Interfaith Hospitality Network
Members of Grace provide evening meals and/or stay overnight at Interfaith Hospitality Network (IHN) with those who are temporarily homeless and are working towards a better life. Grace members also assist in the sale of Christmas trees in December to help the organization with its fund-raising efforts.
International Mission Trip
Grace prayerfully supports an international medical mission trip each year.
Ladies’ Day Makeover
Ladies’ Day Makeover shows the love of Jesus in a fun, practical way to women who under crisis care. The event focuses on external and internal transformation. Members of Grace and volunteers provide a free makeover to these women. After the makeover, guests and volunteers participate in a special worship and music service.
Lutheran Malaria Initiative
Grace is a leader in the Lutheran Malaria Initiative, which is an unprecedented effort that unites the ELCA, the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod and Lutheran World Relief in an effort to mobilize 8 million Lutherans in the United States to save lives by containing malaria. Meals on Wheels
The Meals on Wheels ministry provides shut-in members of our community with a warm, nutritious meal Grace is responsible for delivery of one route every Thursday.
Nursing Home Ministry (Good Shepherd Nursing Home)
Grace members provide afternoon worship services on the third Sunday of each month to the residents at Good Shepherd Nursing Home.
Oesterlen “Back to School” Dinner
Grace participates in the September dinner for Oesterlen residents.
Oesterlen Love Gifts Drive
Grace supports the work at Oesterlen prayerfully and with a collection of items to be used as the staff deems appropriate.
Operation Christmas Child
Operation Christmas Child, a division of Franklin Graham’s Samaritan’s Purse, is a worldwide outreach ministry in which shoeboxes full of Christmas gifts are transported to needy children around the globe.
Quilter’s Guild
Grace members meet at 9 a.m. on the first Thursday of each month to make quilts and sweaters, which are then sent to aid Lutheran World Relief.
Rainbow Table II
Grace members have served more than 10 years at Rainbow Table II, a program that provides hot meals to those in need. Meals are served at Central United Methodist Church. Grace serves during the month of January.
Safe Schools, Healthy Students
Grace partners with Snowhill Elementary School to provide school children with individualized attention, reinforcement of instruction and skill development, and good relationships with encouraging caring adults. Grace members help in the classroom, provide reading and math assistance, help with safety and traffic patrol, and/or assist in the cafeteria.
Sonshine Club
Grace members share the love of Jesus with a small group of second and third graders at Snowhill Elementary School from 1:30–2:30 p.m. on Wednesday afternoons. Weekly activities include prayer, Bible lessons, crafts, songs, games and lots of fun.
St. John’s Food Pantry
Volunteers from Grace help staff the St. John’s Food Pantry in downtown Springfield. The Grace Garden Ministry donates fresh vegetables to the food pantry. The Grace Children’s Sunday School uses the offering money collected each Sunday to purchase food for food pantry. Grace members may place their food donations in the grocery cart in fellowship hall.
St. Luke’s Hygiene Pantry
Grace members collect and provide personal hygiene items and household cleaning products during the month of March for use by registered caregivers in the homes of their homebound elderly and disabled patients.
Terry Kelly Memorial Blood Drive
Grace hosts an annual drive to collect blood for the Community Blood Center.
